People who fall ill or are injured on island resorts should be assessed by a registered nurse. If the patient is seriously ill or critically injured, the registered nurse should consult with a medical officer and together decide whether the patient needs to be evacuated to Airlie Beach or Mackay. If a medical officer cannot be contacted, dial 000 directly.
