Joint Consumer Bodies’ Position Paper: National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission Final Report

Health Consumers Queensland (HCQ) worked collaboratively with Consumers Health Forum of Australia and other state and territory bodies to develop this joint position paper in response to the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission Final Report (the report), focusing on five key areas of access and equity, consumer engagement and involvement, consumer experience of the health system, e-health and prevention and early intervention.

The position paper emphasises the importance of health consumers engaging in the design and implementation of policy, planning and service delivery aspects of the national health reform process.

As such, HCQ wants your feedback on the matters raised in the joint position paper.  We also want to hear your views on other recommendations in the report not specifically mentioned in the joint paper.

We will incorporate your feedback into a submission to be provided to the Deputy-Premier and Minister for Health to inform Queensland's deliberations and discussion with the Commonwealth about the report.

Please provide your feedback  to DSHCQ@health.qld.gov.au by 23 November 2009.

Also, please foward the position paper and HCQ contact details onto others who may be interested in providing feedback from a consumer perspective.

HCQ is also looking at other ways of gathering Queensland consumer feedback.  We will let you know more about these once they are finalised.
