The resources on this site were developed as part of the head lice in primary schools pilot project. They were specifically designed for primary schools but can be used in many other settings such child care centres, high schools and aged care facilities.
Using these resources will assist school communities to manage head lice and head lice issues including stigma and blame. It will not eliminate head lice, however if the school community embraces a whole of school approach to managing head lice, it should reduce the physical, psychological, social and financial impact of head lice. Click on the links in the menu at the left-hand side of the page to access the resources.
The strategies recommended on this website have been developed using the three interrelated components of the Health Promoting Schools framework.
| Whole of school approach Exclusion of children from school is not a strategy recommended on this site. The experience of the pilot project showed that the development of a whole of school approach including up-to-date information for families and support for families having difficulties in managing head lice is an effective approach. |
