Hospital and Health Services (HHSs) will operate and manage a network of public hospitals and health services within a defined geographic or functional area.
HHSs will vary in geographical size, operational budget and diversity of services provided. Children's Health Queensland will be a dedicated statewide children's service offering specialist paediatric services.
The functions, size and geographical boundaries of the 17 HHSs will be broadly the same as the current health service districts. Profiles for each HHS are available below.
It is also proposed that responsibility for management of Offender Health, dental health vans and the Clinical Skills Development Service will be transferred to host HHSs. Offender Health Services will be devolved to the management of the HHSs in which they are currently located.
