Communicable diseases: a guide for consumers

Communicable diseases are diseases you catch. This site provides information about a wide range of diseases passed from person to person (for example measles), and diseases people get from insects (for example mosquitoes), animals (for example bats), and the environment (for example water, waste).

Queensland Health’s Communicable Diseases Branch  is responsible for the surveillance, prevention and control of communicable diseases in Queensland.
