Bed Bugs

Picture of a bed bug

Bed bugs are becoming more common worldwide. Although they do not seem to be involved in any serious disease transmission, their bite can be very irritating.

The activity of bed bugs is usually detected by the irritation caused to sleepers.

If you believe you have an infestation, contact Environmental Health Services at your local council.

The Department of Medical Entomology at the University of Sydney and Westmead Hospital has produced a fact sheet on bed bugs.

Queensland Bed Bug Action Group is conducting a confidential survey of tourism operators via the Internet to try and establish hard data on costs and affects of bed bugs to local tourism operators. This survey will help compile information to lobby governments for funding research into the best ways to kill bed bugs.
