First Aid is the first assistance or treatment given to a casualty for an injury or sudden illness before the arrival of an ambulance or qualified medical expert. First Aid treatment is given to preserve life, prevent the condition worsening, and to promote recovery.

Information is no substitute for skill and knowledge in carrying out First Aid, and regular updating of certified training is essential. See below for training course information from your local Ambulance Service.
