The homepage of the Building a Healthy, Active Australia initiative includes useful information and resources for schools to assist in the development of a balanced approach towards nutrition and physical activity.

Australian Sports Commission – Active After-School Communities Program
Active After-school Communities is a nationally delivered after school hours sports program that aims to improve the health and well being of Australia’s primary school aged children through structured physical activity. The homepage provides general information, FAQs, information on how to get involved in the program and ways sporting organisations can be involved.

Active Australia Schools Network
Benefits of joining this network include: members only access to resources, updates and factsheets; links with other schools and programs; discounts on resources; snippets for use in newsletters; membership kit; and support from your area coordinator.

ACHPER - Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation
ACHPER is a national not-for-profit professional association representing people who work in the areas of Health Education, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport, Dance, Community Fitness or Movement Science.The Council aims to promote healthy lifestyles for all Australians and particularly to study and promote its areas of focus. The site contains useful resources and links.

Heart Foundation
This site contains information on Jump Rope for Heart as well as ideas for fun, physically active games, healthy food ideas and heart health resources for teachers.

Heart Foundation Walking
Heart Foundation Walking is Australia's largest group walking program with around 5000 participants across Queensland. It is a free program which aims to help people become more physically active by walking regularly as part of a group.

10,000 Steps
This resource focuses on the accumulation of activity over the day and provides information and advice about increasing daily physical activity.

Living Streets UK: What is Living Streets? 
The Living Streets initiative is a clear and urgent challenge to the authorities who, for decades, have allowed traffic priorities to overwhelm local streets and public places, and failed to keep them clean and safe. It is also a challenge to you - the person who wants to use your local streets freely and without fear, who wants to win back the public spaces from litter and vandalism and to reach local services with ease, not as someone whose family must always come second to cars and trucks.
