Taking Big Steps is a culturally specific and inclusive transition program primarily developed to assist young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people needing to move away from rural and remote communities to regional or urban areas for secondary education. The resources below were developed in 2001.

The Leaving School: I’m Outta Here! Program is designed to assist young people’s transition from school to life after school. The program was developed during 2004-2005 and evaluated in 2006 with seven schools in the Mackay, Moranbah and Townsville districts in North Queensland. All the schools involved in the trial indicated that they intend running the program again.
