Selected Queensland Hospital Activity Indicators
Admitted patient episodes of care (Monthly counts)

Description Episodes of care by month for Queensland Public Acute Hospitals
Definition An episode of care is a phase of treatment. There may be more than one episode of care within the one hospital stay. An episode of care ends when the principal clinical intent changes or when the patient is formally separated from the facility. Acute, Rehabilitation, Palliative, Geriatric Evaluation and Management, Psychogeriatric, Maintenance, Other Care and Qualified Newborn episodes of care are included.
Terminology 'Admitted patient episode of care' usually refers to the entire hospital stay of a patient. However, on some occasions patients receive more than one type of care and separate episodes of care are counted.

Timeliness Data are generally available 28 days after the completion of the reference month. If a hospital has not provided their data electronically before that time, then the monthly data for that hospital are imputed by an estimation process

Select and click on one area, district or top-28 Hospital from the following groups (click on the legend of the graphs to access the data):

Note that districts that are comprised of only top-28 Hospitals will not appear in the 'District Totals for Non-Top 28 Hospitals' category. Totals for these districts will appear in the 'District Totals' category.
