Description

Monthly counts of Occasions of Service for Queensland Public Acute Hospitals

 
     

Definition

Any examination, consultation, treatment or other service provided to a non-admitted patient in a functional unit of a health service facility. Excludes services provided to admitted patients of a facility at that facility's outpatient clinic. Private outpatient clinics are also excluded.

 
     
Terminology 'Non-admitted patient occasions of service' are the emergency department, outpatient, pharmacy, pathology, and radiology services provided by the hospital to non-admitted patients.

Timeliness

Data are generally available 28 days after the completion of the reference month. If a hospital has not provided their data electronically before that time, then the monthly data for that hospital are imputed by an estimation process

Note that districts that are comprised of only top-28 hospitals will not appear in the 'District Totals for Non-Top 28 Hospitals' category. Totals for these districts will appear in the 'District Totals' category.

Note: Figures for The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital appear lower from November 2008 due to the implementation of the new CIMHA database.
