About the HR Graduate Program

Program overview

The Queensland Health HR Graduate Program offers permanent Human Resource Officer positions for graduates.

The 12-month program involves a number of placements across a diverse range of HR environments, providing graduates with experience and exposure to areas such as:

The program encompasses a range of formal training and development activities including orientation and induction, HR tutorials, professional development activities, a mentoring program and graduation ceremony.

Graduates will have the opportunity to fully utilise their knowledge, skills and competencies, participate in networking events and gain valuable hands on experience to ensure that they acquire skills and abilities relevant to the human resource field in the public sector.

Core components

Orientation Program
Welcomes graduates to Queensland Health and the HR Graduate Program. It outlines roles, expectations, conditions of employment, etc.

HR Tutorials
Tutorial sessions provide the opportunity to invite HR professionals to share knowledge and experiences with the graduates on various HR topics. Also allows graduates to reflect on their experiences and learning during the program, develop skills in relationship building, communication, teamwork and networking.

Placements
Graduates may have the opportunity to undertake placements over the 12 months across a number of diverse HR work environments within Queensland Health.

Professional Development Activities
These sessions encompass a range of learning activities both formal and informal. Their aim is to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills and abilities to enhance both personal and professional performance.

Mentoring Program
A mentoring program establishing a partnership which will provide the opportunity to share experiences and expertise to help with personal and professional growth. Assist graduates in the transition from university to the work environment, facilitate networking opportunities and provide career enhancement advice.

Graduation Ceremony
The graduation ceremony provides an opportunity for Queensland Health, managers, supervisors and mentors to recognise and honour graduates achievement, and for the graduates to reflect on their experiences over the program.
