When does the next HR Graduate Program commence?
February 2009.
How many graduates will Queensland Health be recruiting and where are they located?
The number of positions available in the 2009 program will be confirmed in September 2008 prior to advertising. As an indication the 2008 program had 7 permanent Graduate HR Officer positions available. The majority of the positions will be within the Brisbane region, however regional positions may also become available (such as Cairns, Townsville etc). Please note that if you nominate a location that would require you to move residence, relocation expenses will be your own responsibility.
What is Queensland Health looking for in a graduate?
Qualifications, experience and aptitude are the fundamental aspects of the program and provide they key incentives that underpin participation in this program. What is my starting wage?
Graduates on the HR Graduate Program are employed under the Health Service Employee Award. As an example, graduates in the 2008 program commenced as an A04 on $54,135 plus superannuation.

What happens after completing the HR Graduate Program?
The graduates are permanently appointed on the program and will need to seek permanent positions within Queensland Health. Graduates are encouraged to actively seek positions in areas of interest during the course of the program, and are provided with training and networking opportunities to assist them in finding a position.

What happens if my results are not available when I apply?
You may not have your university results when you apply for the HR Graduate Program, however you will need to supply a copy of your current academic transcript. This can be obtained from your university administration. If you are successful in gaining an interview, you will be required to show your official academic transcript to the selection panel.
Do I need to have an Australian qualification?
You will need to hold a qualification from a recognised tertiary institution and have the legal right to work in Australia.
Are you only recruiting Graduate Human Resource Officers?
Yes, this program is specialised to recruit graduates in the human resources discipline. There is another program offered for non-clinical graduates. Please click here to view their website.
What is a selection panel?
A selection panel is a small group of people (normally 3), who assess applicants against the assessment criteria and recommend the best applicants for the position. Decisions are made purely on merit.
I have just found out about the HR Graduate Program. Can I submit a late application?
Late applications will not be accepted outside of the recruitment and selection process.
I am a mature age university graduate. Can I still apply?
Yes you can apply!
I am interested in continuing postgraduate studies. Will the department support me?
There is an opportunity for Queensland Health to support graduates in further studies through the Study and Research Assistance Scheme (SARAS). The level of support is dependant on the relevance of your studies to the department.
If I am unsuccessful in my application for the 2009 HR Graduate Program, can I apply for the program in the future?
If you meet the eligibility criteria, then you are eligible to apply for the Graduate Program again in the future.
Are there any other graduate programs for non-clinical professions?
