Who to contact

If you want to talk to someone about issues relating to sex and your sexual health, there are lots of people ready to help you. Who you should talk to depends on what you’d like to discuss.

Other people you might like to talk to include:

  • Your school-based youth health nurse
  • Your guidance counsellor or other school counsellor
  • Doctors and nurses who work in sexual health clinics
  • Your GP (local doctor)
  • Community Health professionals. Check the phonebook for your local Queensland Health Community Health Services. (White Pages under "Queensland Health.")
  • A telephone counsellor at Kids Help Line (24hr telephone service: FREECALL 1800 55 1800 or visit their website)
  • You may want to discuss some problems like rape or drink spiking with the Police. Many branches have a Juvenile Aid Bureau (JAB) to assist young people. Check the phonebook (White Pages) under "Police Stations."
  • For more organisations, such as The Queensland Association for Healthy Communities and Hepatitis Council of Queensland, check out the Sexual Health for adults website
