The Logan Hospital Expansion Project is a $145.24 million project that will transform Logan Hospital in to a new expanded health facility offering quality and timely health services to our growing region.
Construction on Logan Hospital's expansion project is complete and we are now getting ready for the opening of the new Emergency Department on 14 October. Fitout of the dedicated adult and children’s emergency units is underway, which sees $6.5M in furniture and equipment being installed, tested and commissioned during the next month.
Work is continuing on the Level 3 Children's Inpatient Unit and Rehabilitation Unit, which will open later this year.
Logan Hospital's expansion project first began in 2012. An early works package included an expanded Children's outpatient area with an additional six new paediatric outpatient rooms and separate waiting area for children and families. As well as this, the construction of a Medical Common Room and multidisciplinary Simulation Learning Centre will provide state-of-the-art facilities for clinical staff.
This project was undertaken in a number of stages. In stage 1, a brand new multi-storey building with co-located Adult and Children's Emergency Department on level 2 and covered car parking underneath. The construction of level 3 in stage 2 included a new 24 bed Rehabilitation Unit and the new expanded Children's Inpatient Unit and support services.
Stage 3 will see the construction of a new Cardiac Catheter Laboratory in the vacated Emergency Department space. It is intended that this unit will provide the infrastructure for future growth.
