If you live in the Mackay Health Service District (St Lawrence to Bowen, coast to Hinterland and everything in between) then we may be able to help you if you need support or care due to a mental health or substance misuse problem.
Our model of service encourages continuity of patient care across both site of treatment and phase of illness. It also emphasises community-based care as a mechanism to avoid some of the complication of long term serious mental illness. The Service is committed to close linkages with consumer and carer groups, non-government advocacy and support groups, non-government professionals, and other government agencies.
We are a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, Indigenous liaison workers, speciality consultation/liaison positions (ie. forensic, recovery, child and youth, older persons) and administrative staff across all mental health settings. Our teams are further supported by a number of specialist positions: consumer consultant; quality and safety officer; workforce recruitment/retention coordinator; service integration co-ordinator; mental health information manager; and Mental Health Act Delegate.
