Aids provided through hospital programs

The Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme administers financial subsidies for hospital-based programs, including the Cystic Fibrosis Program (CFP).

About the Cystic Fibrosis Program (CFP)

MASS provides subsidy funding towards a basic range of approved aids and equipment to Queensland hospital patients with cystic fibrosis. The CFP subsidises nebulisers, positive expiratory pressure (PEP) and flutter devices but does not fund nebuliser filter pads or pumps.

Eligible prescribers include physiotherapists associated with a cystic fibrosis centre/clinic. Registered nurses can prescribe nebulisers only if they are associated with a cystic fibrosis centre/clinic. Prescribers need to ensure that applicants meet administrative and clinical criteria as detailed in the Program Guidelines, and assist applicants to complete the initial application and re-applications for ongoing subsidy assistance.
