We recognise that Queenslanders trust us to act in their interests at all times. To fulfil our mission and sustain this trust we share four core values:
Working with communities to improve health
Queensland Health values the health and wellbeing of all Queenslanders. We will work with communities to create healthy environments and support behaviours that protect and promote health (like good nutrition and physical activity for example), reduce health risk factors (such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption and obesity), and improve health outcomes for people living with long-term health conditions.
Creating a patient-focused health system
Addressing the needs of individuals, families, carers and communities is fundamental to providing optimal health services.
Responding justly and fairly to need
To achieve equitable health outcomes across the population, Queensland Health aims to provide health services that safely and effectively respond to the needs of all Queenslanders. Our aim is to enable timely access to the right health service at the right time in the right setting.
Queensland Health aims to work with the community, clinicians, government and non-government partners to improve the health outcomes of all Queenslanders.
Making Queensland Health a good place to work
Queensland Health recognises that people are its most valuable resource. Queensland Health aims to create a safe work environment where communication is open and transparent, where staff are supported and enabled to provide safe, quality health services, and where staff feel respected and valued for their contributions to improving the health of Queenslanders.
Building the next generation of health workers, ideas and health services
Queensland Health must be responsive to the changing needs of health staff and customers to remain sustainable. To achieve this, the organisation aims to improve workforce capacity, including the use of innovative approaches to service delivery. There will be a focus on continuously improving the quality and efficiency of health services.
Promoting a problem solving approach to reform Queensland Health
Reform of the health system is necessary in an environment characterised by increasing demand for health services and consumer expectations, and scarce human and financial resources. In response, Queensland Health aims to promote new and innovative ways to deliver safe, effective and responsive health services for all Queenslanders.
Better manage performance of systems assets and information
Queensland Health is accountable to the community for the optimal utilisation of systems, assets and information to provide dependable health services for Queenslanders.
