Queensland Health is the State Government run health department committed to providing a range of services aimed at achieving good health and well being for all Queenslanders. With over 75,000 staff, Queensland Health is the third largest employer in Australia.
Queensland Health is divided into 15 health service districts. Service provision in each district depends on geographical location, access to skilled health professionals, population demographics, community needs and physical resources.

Recruitment remains a major priority for the Queensland Government, with a target to employ more than 3500 doctors, nurses and allied health professionals from 2009 - 2012.
In addition to recruiting more health professionals, the Queensland Government’s record health spend enables us to press forward with our record $6 billion health infrastructure program. This program, the largest in Australia’s history, is delivering new and upgraded health facilities across the state in locations such as the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, Cairns, Mackay, Townsville, Mt Isa and Rockhampton.
