"I moved from Berlin to Queensland in 2006 to gain experience and advance my career as a doctor. What was a one year change in scenery stint has now been over four years. The working conditions in Queensland Health are fantastic. There is better shift structure, I'm working less hours and the remuneration is great. I also love the Queensland climate and being able to enjoy walking on the endless beaches and experience a diversity of flora and fauna that you would only see in a zoo anywhere else".

"The people are great. There is a wide range of clinical presentations and available practice - you can almost be whatever you want to be if you get the right training. I'm thrilled to be able to practise as a GP in our Primary Health Care Centres, including outreach on outer islands, perform anaesthetics, ward care and emergency care in the hospital, and have a role in the strategic direction of the health service as acting Director of Medical Services. I feel I have finally been able to have an interesting job, but also have my own time to be able to relax out of work".

"Being a rural generalist in Biloela, I do emergency work for severe emergencies such as trauma and obstetrics complications and I get to manage that myself in a rural setting. Biloela Hospital also has a fantastic staff of nurses and allied health staff and we all get along very well and work together nicely".
