The Queensland Government is committed to building a better mental health system with a record increase of $528.8 million, over four years, announced in the 2007-08 State Budget.
This unprecedented level of funding, the largest investment in mental health in Queensland's history, reflects the Government's commitment to delivering a better quality of life for people who live with mental illness, their families and carers.
This funding follows a $366.2 million increase in funding to mental health in 2006-07 as a result of Queensland's commitment to the Council of Australian Governments' National Action Plan (NAP) (PDF, 565 KB) on Mental Health.
This investment in mental health has been informed by the Queensland Plan for Mental Health 2007-17 which is currently being finalised.
