Public Mental Health Services

Public mental health services are based in regions in Queensland known as Area and District Mental Health Services. Mental Health Services provide inpatient, hospital-based, and community mental health services for all age groups across the range of mental health care-from emergency response to less urgent mental health consultations. Our services include:

Staff in our services (PDF, 330 KB) are from a wide variety of professions including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, consumer consultants, and administration officers.

Each service includes after-hours contact as well as long-term care. They also provide programs to promote mental health and prevent mental health problems.
