Our Role

The Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Directorate of Queensland Health is responsible for planning, funding, reviewing and redeveloping public mental health services. Our roles include:

The Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Directorate  is responsible for developing, managing and coordinating Queensland Health policy in relation to mental health services. This includes developing, implementing and monitoring strategies required to achieve the outcomes of the planning and reform agendas of both the Commonwealth and Queensland Governments and the Australian Health Care Agreements URL.

The Directorate is also responsible for developing and maintaining the regulatory framework for the delivery and monitoring of mental health services under the Mental Health Act 2000 URL and related legislation affecting consumers of mental health services.
