'Be Mind Wise'

This year's theme 'Be Mind Wise' was selected by the 2008 State Planning Committee following consultation with our key stakeholders.

Mental health is an essential part of our overall health and wellness. At times, we all face challenges that test us and put our mental health at risk. When our mental health is poor, it can affect our entire body and play a role in the development of other health issues.

Staying healthy means looking after yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. By giving a little attention to these areas each day you can help yourself to stay well and strong.

Our mental health can be affected by all kinds of things but if we take care of ourselves in a balanced way we will be able to cope better during the difficult times. When we feel down mentally we can still do things to make ourselves feel better. By focusing on what we can do rather than what we can't do we help ourselves to stay strong and feel good about who you are.

Some suggested key messages that could be drawn from this year's theme are:

We encourage organisers to be creative with the theme and add key messages specific to their target audience.
