Each year events are organised by organisations, public mental health services, schools, consumer and carer groups, associations and councils across the state.
The aim of the mental health week program of events and activities are to:
promote good mental health and inform and educate the general public about mental health issues - promote good mental health for all
raise awareness and help reduce stigma
recognise and acknowledge the contributions that consumers make to our community
activate, educate and engage Queenslanders around mental health and related issues through the organisation of a huge variety of events by individuals and organisations across the state
increase community understanding and acceptance of people with a mental illness as individuals with a range of skills, interests and characteristics - just like any other member of the community - harness capacities and provide opportunities
engage communities and the government and corporate sectors and promote shared ownership of 'mental health issues'
promote awareness at local, regional and state level.
