Reducing Suicide

The Queensland Government's key response to suicide and suicide prevention is detailed in the Queensland Government Suicide Prevention Strategy (The Strategy).

The Strategy aims to respond to the issue of suicide and suicide prevention by reducing the incidence of suicide through a number of overarching State Government initiatives. Reducing the incidence of suicide requires the whole-of-government approach as established in The Strategy, working with non-government and the community to effectively respond to the aim of reducing suicide.  Although widely studied, suicide has proved to be difficult to understand and even more difficult to prevent. The rate of suicide remains high in Australia and throughout the world despite a range of suicide prevention campaigns.
