Mount Isa Hospital is the major referral centre in North West Queensland. The hospital has 80 beds and a fully equipped High Dependency Unit. The district covers an area of 300,000 square rural and remote kilometres with a population of approximately 34,000. The districts indigenous population is approximately 22%.
