Mount Isa Health Service District's Relationship with the Mount Isa Centre for Rural and Remote Health (MICRRH)

The Mount Isa Health Service District has a strong relationship with the Mount Isa Centre for Rural and Remote Health (MICRRH).

The James Cook University Mount Isa Centre for Rural and Remote Health is a Commonwealth initiative to promote the development of a workforce capacity in Rural, Remote, Indigenous and Population Health. It has a multidisciplinary focus on education and research aimed specifically on the needs of rural and remote communities.

Over the past 10 years MICRRH has worked with health providers to promote innovation in health services education and models of service delivery. These health providers include the following:

  Queensland Health  
  North West Queensland Primary Health Care  
  Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine  
Royal Flying Doctor Service
  North West Communities and other stakeholders at State and National levels
