A culturally competent organisation engages with culturally and linguistically diverse communities in the development of services.

Queensland Health works with Health Consumers Queensland to develop effective consumer and community engagement strategies.

To support this work, Health Consumers Queensland has developed the Consumer and Community Engagement Framework. This framework features diversity as one of its eight key principles, encouraging the involvement of consumers from diverse backgrounds in engagement activities.

Health care providers' guide to engaging multicultural communities and consumers

Queensland Health Multicultural Services has developed the Health care providers' guide to engaging multicultural communities and consumers to support health workers to engage with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and consumers.

The guide offers step-by-step advice on how to successfully engage multicultural consumers in the planning, delivery and evaluation of health services.

Do you have concerns about a government or non-government health service or are you unhappy with the way an issue has been handled? Do you think you have been treated unfairly or are you concerned about a decision or action of a health professional?

It is ok to complain, and there are organisations that are independent of the government that can help you, free of charge.
