Nursing

The Workforce Directorate offers professional development opportunities to registered nurses throughout the Northern Area Health Service of Queensland Health. The Workforce Directorate is an accredited education provider by the Queensland Nursing Council and delivers the following endorsement courses:

• Sexual and Reproductive Health Program Health (Drugs and Poisons) Regulation 1996 Registered Nurse Course
• Immunisation Program Registered Nurses Health (Drugs and Poisons) Regulation 1996 Course
• Rural and Isolated Practice Health (Drugs and Poisons) Regulation 1996 Registered Nurse Course

To maximise accessibility to educational programs the Workforce Directorate utilises a range of approaches to deliver training. These include:

• Workshops, seminars and conferences
• Training via audioconferencing, offered in provincial centres as well as onsite in rural and remote centres where appropriate
• Training via videoconferencing
• Self-directed learning packages via distance education
• Hands-on skills-based training
