To oversee the development and implementation of the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) and to make recommendations in response to its findings, a Community Reference Group (CRG) was formed.
In September 2006, Queensland Health invited residents of Deception Bay, Narangba and Mango Hill to register their interest in being part of the CRG. Members were selected because of their respected knowledge of a sector of the community with an interest in the Narangba Industrial Estate; however members do not formally represent a wider group or organisation.
The CRG comprises 17 representatives from a broad range of backgrounds including community, business, industry and local and State Government.
The CRG was supported by an independent facilitator and engaged the services of an independent technical adviser to provide guidance on technical aspects of the project, including interpretation of reports. A health advisory panel was also established to provide guidance to the CRG on matters related to health, risks and exposure. The panel comprised Queensland Health staff with specialist skills in these areas.
For more information on the role of the CRG see the Terms of Reference.
