Queensland Health and the nursing and midwifery profession recognises education as core business in developing the capability of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to be adaptable and responsive to the changing demands of delivering dependable healthcare and better health for all Queenslanders now and into the future. Queensland Health also acknowledges that “professional nurses and midwives are required to provide the best possible patient care that is contemporaneous, timely, ethical, and resource (human, financial and material) efficient”.
The Nursing and Midwifery Staff Development Framework (the Framework) provides a strategic approach to learning and development, acknowledging the priority areas of clinical, organisational and professional learning, in the capacity building of a safe, compassionate and competent nursing and midwifery workforce embracing continuous skill development, competence and lifelong learning.
