Queensland Health Staff: Reporting Concerns Portal

Title of Complaint or Concern

Occupational health and safety issues, including aggression by patients

Overview/Definitions

This section relates to concerns about occupational health and safety issues that have been reported and not actioned or not perceived to be actioned appropriately.

Process for lodging a complaint

Staff who have concerns about OHS issues should discuss their concerns with their own line manager, who in turn should ensure that the concerns are escalated according to the correct process of the local facility.   If this does not happen the matter should be referred to the local OHS Unit. For example, a nurse with a concern about after hours' security should escalate the concern through the local OHS Unit, who will then refer the matter to the Queensland Health Principal Security Consultant for advice (if required).

Review / Appeal Options

In circumstances where staff remain concerned about the OHS issue, it should be referred to the local OHS Committee.  If the matter still cannot be resolved at the local facility OHS Committee, it should then be referred to the Queensland Health Occupational Health and Safety Steering Committee.
