The Easter Bunny isn’t the only one who should be eating carrots this Easter. 🥕
TPCH clinical dietitian John can attest that carrots are a great source of beta carotene, fibre, vitamin K, potassium and antioxidants, which is great news for your eyes and bowels!
"Orange carrots get their bright colour from beta carotene, an antioxidant that your body converts into vitamin A," he said.
"Carotenoids, polyphenols, and vitamins in carrots have been demonstrated to have anticarcinogenic, antioxidant, and immune-boosting qualities."
So this weekend, hop on down to the shops and pick up some carrots for you, your family, and the Easter Bunny! 🐇

Queensland Ballet star and TikTok celeb Taron recently got a helping hand at our TPCH Rapid Access Hand Clinic after a game of soccer went wrong. 🫶
Taron, who fractured his hand ahead of some important auditions, presented to our TPCH emergency department before he was streamlined through the Rapid Access Hand Clinic where he was treated directly by advanced hand therapist Kylie.
“I was very upset when I first injured my hand because I knew it would affect my ability to be casted in the next ballet season – after thinking about it even more, I knew an audition was coming up, and with an audition coming up I needed to be fully well and functional," Taron said.
Luckily, Kylie and the team were able to treat Taron without him needing to visit the fracture clinic, and had him back on his feet and dancing again in no time! 🩰

Better Together Medication Access (BTMA) provides prescribed discharge and outpatient medications at no out-of-pocket cost to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients who have been cared for at Metro North.
Since October 2020, BTMA has demonstrated a 50% reduction in all-cause 28-day readmissions to hospital, thereby fulfilling the mission of keeping Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients healthier and out of hospital.
TPCH Indigenous Health Liaison Officer Mark with Aboriginal patient Keith and pharmacy administration officer Irene are just a few people who have seen the success and positive outcomes of this program.
Due to its success, Queensland Health has now released a health service directive for all hospital and health services to adopt this model which also recently expanded to include outpatient medications.
❤️💛🖤 Let's celebrate this great initiative today for National Close the Gap Day.

Victor has had three strokes lately, which has landed him in the TPCH acute stroke and rehabilitation ward – a long way from his home in Gladstone.
He originally came down to Brisbane for a pacemaker operation, but the strokes hit while he was here, with daughter in law Kate and grandson Tana by his side for the past 8 weeks. 🥰
"He has made so much progress through gym, rehab, and getting him moving. He loves music, he was a musician back in the day he played the drums, so he's loved the visits from a friend who plays him guitar," Kate said.
"You just do what you can do, it’s family. We want to get him as best as he can so we can get him back home."

What do you do more than 700 times each day? No, it’s not checking Instagram, it’s swallowing! We even do it while we’re sleeping. 😴
TPCH speech pathologist Elise claims that one in every 17 people will develop a swallowing problem in their life, called dysphagia. People with dysphagia are at risk of choking, aspiration pneumonia, poor nutrition, dehydration, longer length of admission, and decrease in quality of life.
"Together with the multi-disciplinary team we are able to support patients to regain their function. This can include helping them return to eating the foods they love or being able to talk to their friends and family in a meaningful way again," Elise said.
"Just recently I helped a patient who at the start of his admission, he was unable to safely eat and drink anything and had to be fed via a nasogastric tube, but by the end of his time in rehabilitation, he was able to safely tolerate a full (normal) diet again!" 🙌

I contracted HIV in 2020, I was told by my doctor that there's no possible cure for HIV. I started taking my ARV's, My CD4 was 77 and viral load was 112,450. I saw a website of Dr. OFURE, also I saw a lot of testimonials about him on how he uses herbal medicine to cure HIV. I contacted him and told him my problems, He sent me the herbal medicine and I took it for some week after then I went for check-up and I was cured. The medicine has NO SIDE EFFECT, there's no special diet when taking the medicine. He also cure ALS, HEPATITIS B, CANCER, HERPES, DIABETES, STD. And lots more.
