Welcome to The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) and our affiliated health services including: Ashworth House Aged Care Facility, Eventide Aged Care Facility, Jacana Acquired Brain Injury Centre, Northside Primary & Community Health Services and Pine Rivers Community Care Unit. We are part of the Northside Health Service District, which is one of Queensland Health's 20 Health Service Districts.
TPCH is a major teaching and tertiary referral hospital. We provide specialist services in Cardiology, Thoracic Medicine, Cardio-thoracic Surgery, General Medicine & Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Mental Health, Geriatric Medicine, Rehabilitation and Orthopaedics. Our affiliated health services provide Aged Care, Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation, specialised Mental Health services and a wide range of Community Health services.
TPCH is mid-way through a $134 million dollar redevelopment which will see a significant expansion of services to meet the health care needs of people living in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. The first stage is now complete, and this has resulted in the construction of a three storey building accommodating a new Emergency Department, a 27 bed state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit, two new Operating Theatres and two new 30-bed inpatient units. The second stage of the redevelopment is due for completion at the end of 2008. This stage will allow us to commission a further two new Operating Theatres, two new inpatient units, redevelop our Day Surgery facilities, and expand our specialist outpatient services. In order to provide our comprehensive range of health care services, TPCH employs more than 4000 staff, of which approximately 1800 are nurses.
It is well recognised that the provision of quality clinical practice experiences are essential in the preparation of professional competent graduate nurses.
