Health Promotion
- Queensland Health recommends that clients consult with a medical practitioner prior to following these physical activity guidelines, particularly where they have been previously inactive, have heart disease or close relatives with heart disease, are pregnant or have other major health problems.
- Provide multiple opportunities for professional staff and members of the public to learn about the messages in the National Physical Activity Guidelines for Adults and for Children and Young People.
- Provide information to health professionals in particular, about where they can obtain copies of the guidelines.
- Liaise with local media, in particular Health Service Districts to provide physical activity messages in staff newsletters and other media avenues.
- Encourage use of the National Physical Activity Guidelines for Adults and for Children and Young People in projects and programs, particularly those with a physical activity focus.
- Encourage use of the National Physical Activity Guidelines for Adults and for Children and Young People in relevant resources (ie. patient information, orientation manuals, patient planning, local government planning, Health Service District plans).
- Seek and utilise ways to increase awareness of the importance of physical inactivity as a risk factor for many diseases.
- Further resources can be found on the Queensland Health's Eat Well Be Active website.
