Matters including indemnity, intellectual property, privacy and consent for Enrolled Nursing students from Queensland TAFE’s undertaking a placement in a Queensland Health facility are covered in an overarching Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The MOU is for Queensland Government TAFE colleges only and is current for the five year period 1st January 2007-31st December 2011. It does not apply to private colleges such as Shafston College. Kings College on the Gold Coast is currently in partnership with a TAFE institute and, as such, is covered by the MOU. However, if Kings registers as a Registered Training Authority to deliver nursing within its own right this MOU will no longer apply.
To arrange a placement the Student Schedules must be completed; the student must complete the orientation package, and the student and relevant TAFE staff must sign the deed polls. See the information below:
1. Student Schedules must be completed.
Two copies of the Schedules should be signed by the school or faculty and forwarded to the district.
2. The student must complete the student orientation package
3. The student must sign the deed polls.
4. The TAFE supervisor must sign the deed polls.
Once the Schedules are completed, the student has completed the orientation package and the deed polls have been signed by the student and the TAFE staff, then the placement can begin.
