"Working here has given me several opportunities for career advancement and networking. Working in a large tertiary hospital, different opportunities are constantly arising and I have been fortunate to be successful in a few. I have spent the majority of my career working in Haematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant, and found that whilst its an area that can be both emotionally and clinically challenging, it can also be an area that can be rewarding by helping patients and their loved ones during difficult times."

“For me, nursing isn’t just a ‘job’; it reflects who I am and what’s important to me. I love that I can make a difference in people’s lives. My clients have also taught me a lot about resilience and being positive. Nursing has also given me wonderful colleagues and lifelong friends.”

“I moved from Brisbane and my work in a major hospital to life and work at a rural town, and I am the better for it. Some people mistakenly think that working and living in rural communities is limiting, but I have found that the work is more varied, you have greater autonomy, but you still have fantastic support of a close-knit team. We also have regular training and are very serious about supporting nurses in their transition to a rural area.
Although I miss the gourmet foods of Brisbane, my lifestyle has improved immeasurably. I have more time in my day thanks to less traffic, my children are loving school and we live in a safe and friendly community.”

“No two days are ever the same in nursing. There is always something new to learn and be a part of. The education and career development opportunities are excellent for nursing staff who work here.”
