Queensland Health

Re-Entry

Individuals who have been absent from nursing for a period of five (5) years or more are unable to meet the ‘recency of practice' requirements to maintain their registration/enrolment with the Queensland Nursing Council.

To be restored to the Register or Roll of Nurses, applicants must satisfy the Queensland Nursing Council (QNC) they meet standards in education, competence for practice, health, and English language skills.

For Re-entry to the Register or Roll of Nurses, the QNC recommends the model of assessment implemented through the Competence Assessment Service (CAS).

For further information on re-entry requirements contact the QNC on: (07) 3223 5111 or visit the wesite at http://www.qnc.qld.gov.au.

Each year, Queensland Health offers a number of scholarships to assist former nurses with the costs of re-entry program and assessment expenses.
