"I like the watersports and outdoor activities that come with living in Central Queensland. The kids love to go fishing and boating and the schools are great". Colin Bowen, clinical nurse.

"Goondiwindi is a great small town to live in, it is laid back and the people are friendly. I am blessed to work with a dynamic team of midwives and doctors who are ready to embrace change for themselves and the community. We are living and breathing continuity of care, we are looking to improve the service we offer all the time. We have a hospital and community who are very supportive of this model of care and we don't envisage ever working any other way now!". Rukhsana Aziz , midwife. |
"I moved from working in a major hospital in Brisbane to life and a new career at a rural town, and I am better for it. Some people mistakenly think that working and living in rural communities is limiting, but I have found that the work is more varied, you have greater autonomy, but you still have fantastic support of a close-knit team. We also have regular training and are very serious about supporting nurses in their transition to a rural area. Although I miss the gourmet foods in Brisbane, my lifestyle has improved immeasurably. I have more time in my day thanks to less traffic, my children are loving school and we live in a safe and friendly community". Steven Dyer, nurse consultant. |
"Being a midwife in a rural environment is more than just a job; you become part of the community and you can even see children that you have birthed grow up. Queensland Health provides many opportunities and resources and I enjoy being part of the community lifestyle here - it's a great area to bring up my 3 active boys". Debbie McConnell, midwife. |
