The Office of the Chief Nursing Officer is calling for the submission of funding proposals to support the Queensland Health, Rural Maternity Initiative (RMI).

 

In 2009/10 financial year, $1 million in total has been allocated to the Rural Maternity Initiative which will give rural women more access to maternity services, a key principle that underpins the Advancing Health Action Plan - giving mothers and babies the best start.  The Rural Maternity Initiative is part of the Maternity Services Enhancement plan which has been funded $9 million over four years for sustainability of local maternity services.

 

Priority for funding will be given to maternity service improvements that meet the following principles:
