Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery 2007-2010

The Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery 2007-2010 states key aspirations, strategies and initiatives to promote and continuously improve nursing and midwifery practice within Queensland.

The three year strategic direction for nursing and midwifery aims to simply and clearly:

  1. Establish priority areas for major initiatives to recruit a skilled nursing and midwifery workforce.
  2. Continuously develop nursing and midwifery practice through new models of care, innovation, and best practice standards.
  3. Collaborate and guide the direction for clinical education and training – vocational, undergraduate, post-graduate and competency programs.
  4. Outline an approach to workplace redesign and roles so as to attract and retain future generations of nurses and midwives.
