The Health Research Fellowships are to provide salary support to practicing clinicians or health professionals to quarantine time to undertake clinical or health service research.  Fellows must be based in Queensland publicly funded health care facilities.  Fellows will undertake research that has the potential to lead to improved patient care in Queensland by influencing health policy and clinical practice.

Level 1 (Experienced Researcher)

Up to $150,000 per annum for five years will be available towards the salary of an established practicing clinician or other health professional with a proven track record in research and an ability to make a significant contribution as a leader of research in Queensland’s publicly funded health care facilities.  Possession of a research higher degree qualification will be an advantage.

Level 2 (Early Career Researcher)

Up to $125,000 per annum for five years will be available towards the salary of a practicing clinician or other health professional with demonstrated, but limited, research experience of between approximately one and five years and evidence of ability or significant potential in research. Research experience could include that towards obtainment of a research higher degree.  Early career researchers must identify an experienced mentor in their applications.

The term ‘health professional’ includes medical, nursing and allied health professionals and those dedicated to clinical management, health service delivery, preventative medicine, epidemiology, health informatics, health economics and health policy. 

Fellows must spend a minimum of 30% full time equivalent (FTE) on clinical or health service research and a minimum of 30% FTE on clinical or health service duties in a Queensland publicly funded health care facility.
