SSHMRF Operational Support Fund
The Operational Support Program offered under the Smart State Health and Medical Research Fund provides funding up until 2010 to eligible independent medical research institutes to assist in meeting the operational costs of undertaking research. The two currently successful organisations under this program are Wesley Research Institute and The Mater Medical Research Institute.
Funding rounds have closed and no further funding applications are being sought at this stage.

a total funding pool of $2.17M for three years (2007-08 to 2009-10)

funding will be provided at a proportional funding rate of competitive peer-reviewed grants received by the applicant organisation, averaged over the preceding three years. The proportional funding will be:

- up to 25 cents for every $1 of competitive peer-reviewed grants received directly by the applicant organisation
- up to 10 cents of every $1 of competitive peer-reviewed grants received through an affiliated research organisation

funding is provided to support general operational costs or research which are not covered by other research grants

funding will be committed to successful applicants on a financial year basis, with yearly funding amounts recalculated at the end of each calendar year.
