All Queensland resident children four years of age or older who have not completed year ten at school are eligible for public sector oral health services. There is no means test for this service.
Non- emergency dental treatment is provided at schools through fixed or mobile clinics (dental caravans). Schools are treated on a rotational basis. An offer of dental treatment is issued by way of treatment consent forms. Consent forms are issued to all students enrolled at the school at the commencement of service within each school.
When a school clinic is not attended, all emergency dental treatment should be directed to the nearest dental clinic (check the White Pages under Queensland Health for contact details).
Public sector oral health services are funded by the government and are provided at no charge to eligible clients. Transport to and from dental clinics is the responsibility of each individual client.
