Office of Rural Health: Scholarships


Queensland Health Rural Scholarship Scheme (QHRSS)
The Queensland Health Rural Scholarships are available for students seeking a career in rural and remote Queensland. Scholarships are offered in the following disciplines: Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Oral Health, Podiatry, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Radiography, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology and Social Work.


Queensland Health Allied Health Scholarship Schemes (QHAHSS)
The 2005 Forster Report identified Queensland Health's most critical area of workforce shortage as the allied health group. In response to the report, recurrent funds were allocated within the Action Plan 'Building a Better Health Service for Queensland' in October 2005 to provide additional support and supervision to new graduates, scholarships for students and to facilitate other workforce initiatives. 


Queensland Health Bonded Medical Scholarship Scheme (QHBMS)
The aim of the Queensland Health Bonded Medical Scholarship program is to train 235 additional doctors to work in Queensland Areas of Priority Service for 6 years following their graduation from the Griffith University Graduate Medical Course.


Queensland Health Population Health Scholarship Programme (QHPHSP)
The Population Health Scholarship Programme is available to students undertaking undergraduate (excluding first year) and post-graduate population health degrees.  This scholarship will provide financial assistance for a period of up to two years.  Scholarship recipients will be guaranteed employment with Queensland Health and will be bonded for a period of one year.
