Code of Conduct
The Code of Conduct outlines standards of behaviour required to build a positive workplace culture. It contains a number of ethical obligations, based on the five principles from the Public Sector Ethics Act 1994:
-
Respect for the law and the system of government: Employees must uphold the laws of the state and Commonwealth, and carry out official public sector decisions and policies faithfully and impartially.
-
Respect for people: Employees must treat members of the public and other employees respectfully, honestly and fairly.
-
Integrity: Employees must maintain and enhance public confidence, not improperly use their official powers, ensure that the public interest takes precedence over personal interests should conflict arise, and disclose fraud, corruption and maladministration.
-
Diligence: Employees must work safely and to the best of their ability; maintain and improve knowledge and skills; avoid conduct that could bring Queensland Health into disrepute; ensure that their use of alcohol or other substances does not affect their work; and act professionally and abide by any Code or standards governing the practice of your duties or profession.
-
Economy and efficiency: Employees must use time and work assets efficiently.
