In order to best position the PAH to respond to these future challenges, the District has commenced significant service and master planning activities.
Service planning is being undertaken for each Clinical Unit and Division and this will inform the Master Plan for the District.
The Master Plan will detail the proposed physical footprint of the PAH for the next 15 year period. These planning functions are supported by well established asset and facility management processes and procedures which ensures we maximise every available resource
Future challenges facing both Queensland Health and the PAH include:
§ Population growth and increased demand for services
§ Workforce shortages across a variety of health professions
§ Recruiting and retaining staff – need to remain competitive
§ Creating an environment which rewards quality in service, innovation, and fosters teaching and research
§ Developing new models of care which includes an
emphasis on managing patients in appropriate settings e.g. home and community
§ Improve access to the health system for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people disadvantaged by language, disability and geographical location
The activities of the PAH are aligned with the Queensland Health Strategic Plan 2006-2011.
The intent of this plan is to outline Queensland Health’s broad strategy for the next five year period.
Please refer to this plan for Queensland Health’s mission, Strategic Directions and Values.
