Interpreters

Interpreter with patient and nurse
Our interpreters are available to patients free of charge.

Princess Alexandra Hospital can provide an interpreter for you while you are in hospital.

To book an interpreter please allow at least 24 hours notice and contact the Interpreters office on:

If it is after-hours, please ask ward staff to help you.

Accredited interpreters are free of charge if English is not your first language, or if you use sign language. We advise you to use an accredited interpreter while in hospital and when visiting the hospital after your discharge.

Asking a friend or an untrained person to interpret is often not in your best interest, as this person may not interpret accurately.
