Television and Radio

All hospital beds in Building 1, with the exception of Intensive Care, Surgical Care Unit, and the Emergency Department, are equipped with a television. Patients pay a fee for local and cable television stations, Teletext, and radio. There is also a free patient information channel. Use the handset to select Channel 51

If you wish to use the system, and are willing to pay the fee, press the channel up button on your handset. You will now have full use of the TV for the next 60 seconds. If you don’t wish to pay for the system, press channel down. After 60 seconds, the next message will appear on your screen. If you wish to continue with the TV access, press channel up again. A customer service person will then visit you at your bedside to collect payment for the service. If you do not wish to continue with the service, press channel down.

For more information, please read the “PA Entertainment Network” brochure available in your ward.

If you have a visual impairment, please ask ward staff, as there are special systems in the hospital.

For technical and safety reasons, private TV sets are not permitted. Private radios and tape / CD players are permitted only if they are small and have earphones. CB Radios are not permitted.
